Dear Arisia Art Show Participant,
It’s been an amazing time! The Arisia ’05 Art Show is now officially over. With a lot of help from our friends, we had a very successful art show and survived the “Blizzard of 2005”. Here are a few details that I thought would be of interest to you.
The art show this year had 82 Artists using 110 4’x4’ pegboard panels and 26 3’x6’ tables.
We sold 281 pieces at a total of $8,743.00. Nine pieces went to auction, probably an all-time low because of the snow factor.
Ribbons were awarded to the following pieces:
Popular Vote:
· Best Professional Flat went to Valleri: Do I Smell Tuna by Heidi Hooper
· Best Professional 3-D went to Magic Mountain by Butch Honeck
· Best Amateur Flat went to Autumn’s Last Bask by D. Cameron Calkins
· Best Amateur 3-D went to Cybele by Alasdair Post-Quinn

This year’s Student Art Contest featured 74 entries by 48 artists. There were 14 Finalists by 13 artists. Award winners were difficult to select, so our First, Second, and Third place awards were given to five pieces.

We probably had 100 or more people work on the show at some point over the weekend. I would like to express special thanks to the following people, in alphabetic order:
Lisa Adler-Golden, Claire Anderson, Dave Anderson, Gunther Anderson, Bonnie Atwood, Ted Atwood, Bryt Bradley, Sue Brown, D. Cameron Calkins, Joni Dashoff, Gay Ellen Dennett, Jack Dietz, Donna Dube, Donald E. Eastlake III, Donald E. Eastlake IV, Allison Feldhusen, Mike Feldhusen, jan “Wombat” finder, Buzz Harris, Lisa Hertel, Allan R. Kent, Jenny Kraus, ‘Zanne Labonville, Ben Levy, Megan Lewis, Dave McCarty, Skip Morris, John Picacio, Kirsten Power, Dr. Karen Purcell, Dave Seeley, Paul Selkirk, Andrea Senchy, Nicholas (/phi) Shectman, Cris Shuldiner, Carsten Turner, Amy West, Karl Wurst, and Bill “Crash” Yarazunis.
The build was done in three and a half hours, mostly on Thursday evening, with finishing touches Friday morning. The lead on the build was ‘Zanne Labonville.
Tear down was done in two hours and ten minutes on Sunday afternoon into the evening. The lead on the tear down was Crash.
Number of pieces not picked up and paid – 12, of which one was cancelled, the remainder were sold and shipped or picked up from my house.
Number of boxes shipped – 47 from the hotel, 18 from my home…
And, again because of the snow, two artists and two buyers picked up artwork from my home. There were four no shows.
Again, thanks to those who gave me such a huge amount of support and help. Mother Nature did some things this year which makes a convention in January in Boston such an interesting experience.
Yours sincerely,
Jill Eastlake
